Early Mornings In London

During the summer I was very pleased to get a photography job with Curry's/Canon. The idea was to get a photograph of London landmarks when there was nobody around and then at peak time when crowds were in the shot.

This meant for some very early starts as I had to be in place for sunrise. At that time of year the sun was coming up between 04:30 and 05:00 ! I would lock my tripod in place and then stay in the same position until about 11:30. I was extremely happy when the agency kindly said they would provide me with a runner. I couldn't imagine staying in one place that early without numerous coffees and a comfort break!

Below are the images I took.

Shadows in London

I love nothing more on a sunny day to walk around chasing shadows. I have a small Canon G7X , which has a very useful flip screen, and fits easily in my pocket. I find it very liberating somedays to go out without my big DSLR. Shadow chasing is great in any season as the light quality changes as we move from one to the next. Trees are leafless in winter and create amazing shapes with their naked branches whilst in summer when in full leaf they can create the most amazing dappled shade where light dances on the ground. Here you can see the finished video and 2 of the still photographs I used to add to the storytelling .
